Father found guilty of killing his baby and keeping her body in a storage locker – years after doing the same with his infant son

A father who killed his infant son more than a decade ago was found guilty on Tuesday of also murdering his 2-month-old daughter, whose decomposing remains were found in a trash bag at an Arkansas storage unit. Jason Hann, 38, was convicted of first-degree murder and one count of assault on a child resulting in death, according to the Riverside County district attorney’s office. The Vermont man was living in Desert Hot Springs east of Los Angeles in 2001 when he became angry that his daughter, Montana, was crying. According to the Department of Justice, each year more than 200,000 children become victims of family abduction. In an effort to increase awareness and educate the public on how common family abduction is and the importance of getting involved, the Public Service Announcement Child Abduction by a Parent or Family Member is a Crime has been developed. Through the launching of this PSA, the Task Force and CIR aim to create awareness and increase the reporting and investigation of family abduction cases.

An estimated 2,300 children are missing every day in the United States.  Missing children can victims of family abduction, non-family abduction, or they can be runaways.

 

Family/Parental Abductions
An estimated 203,900 children were victims of a family abduction in 1999.  A family abduction occurs when a family member takes or keeps a child in violation of the custodial parent’s/guardian’s legitimate rights.

Family/Parental abduction findings:

78% of abductors are the non-custodial parent

35% of children were between 6-11 years old

24% of the abductions lasted between 1 week and 1 month

82% of abductors intended to affect custody permanently

21 % are other relatives

42% of children were living with a single parent

15% were living with another relative/foster parent

66% were taken by a male relative

Reasons why family members become abductors:

	They are dissatisfied with custody decision in court
	They have been denied visitation for not paying child support
	They are protecting the child and/or themselves from abuse
	They are angry with the break-up of the relationship
	They are angry with the other parent’s new partner/lifestyle

Non-Family Abductions and Stereotypical Kidnappings

An estimated 58,200 children were victims of a non-family abduction in 1999.  Non-family abductions occur when someone who is not a relative abducts and detains a child without lawful authority or parental permission with the intention to keep the child permanently.  In 1999 there were also 115 stereotypical kidnappings.  A stereotypical kidnapping occurs when a stranger or slight acquaintance transports a child 50 miles or more from home and either kills the child, holds the child for ransom, or intends to keep the child permanently.

Non-family abduction and stereotypical kidnapping findings: 

	81% were 12 years old or older in non-family cases
	58% were 12 years old or older in stereotypical kidnappings
	In 40% of stereotypical kidnappings, the child was killed
	In another 4%, the child was not recovered
	86% of the perpetrators are male
	The abducted children are predominantly female
	Nearly half of all victims were sexually assaulted

Runaways

Over 1.5 million children had a runaway or throwaway episode in 1999.  Runaway cases occur when a child of 14 years or less leaves home without permission for at least one night.  For older children, a runaway is defined as a child who stay out for at least two nights.  Throwaway episodes occur when a parent or other household adult tells a child to leave the house without arranging alternative care and prevents the child from returning home.

Runaway/throwaway findings:

	Two-thirds of children are between 15 and 17 years old
	The male-female ratio is equal
	More than half returned home in the same week
	99% return home
	21% are physically or sexually abused at home

Why children run away from home:

	42% have family problems
	14% because of peer pressure
	5% because of drug or alcohol abuse
	4% because of physical abuse

Idaho—A Coeur d’Alene science teacher faced a judge Tuesday accused of raping a child.  The judge ordered that Daniel Taylor be held on a $50,000 bond. Taylor was charged with two counts of lewd conduct and one count of rape. Court documents stated the alleged crime took place in October 2012, but was not reported until December 2013.  Taylor was arrested Monday after a one week long investigation. READ MORE HERE

A 13-year-old girl has given birth to triplets in the capital of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic The father is a 61-year-old man who is now on the run from authorities who are looking to charge him with sexually abusing a child. The young mother told local media she was ‘happy’ with her three sons, whom she has named Samuel, Joshua and Jovanny. Pedophile football coach arrested after burglar discovers shelves full of child sex videos and tips off police

A man has been charged with the first-degree murder of his girlfriend’s son after he allegedly attacked the child because he was crying during a football game.  Tre’viance Markese Walker, 22, was looking after his girlfriend’s baby for a few hours on December 7 while he watched the University of Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State football game on TV. The fve-month-old boy, identified only as JB, was grabbed so aggressively by Walker that his head ‘snapped back’, according to a police report.  READ MORE HERE

Jamie Reynolds, 23, was given a life sentence

The man who sexually assaulted the body of teenager Georgia Williams after luring her to his parents’ home and hanging her fed his strangulation fantasies through videos he found on YouTube. Jamie Reynolds, 23, who was given a life sentence for killing the 17-year-old former head girl yesterday, began hunting for disturbing clips showing women being throttled by their partners up to six years ago. It has also emerged that he subscribed to the same snuff porn website – which shows videos of women being strangled during sexual intercourse – as pedophile rock star Ian Watkins. Austin Sigg practiced zip tying his mother before kidnapping, raping and dismembering 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway 

Austin Sigg, the twisted teenager who confessed to abducting, raping and murdering 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway in 2012, practiced zip-tying and restraining people on his own mother and slept in her bed night before was arrested for the child’s killing. Mindy Sigg seemed to laugh off her son’s increasingly-troubling behavior, according to authorities. She joked to a friend about her his fixation on body decomposition and revealed that she helped the 17-year-old practice restraining people by letting him zip-tie her, police say. Sigg, who was sentenced last week to spend the rest of his life in prison, was obsessed with mortuary and forensic science and was convinced he could outsmart detectives who were searching for Jessica’s killer. Father charged with murder, child neglect after death of 6-week-old son

A Las Vegas man accused of beating his 6-week-old son to death has been arrested on murder and child neglect charges. Ahmad Moosa, 31, told detectives that he found his son, Damian Moosa, unresponsive at their home in the 3500 block of San Pascual Avenue on Saturday afternoon shortly after he changed the baby’s diaper, according to a Metro Police arrest report released Wednesday. Amber Alert issued for Roswell boy after mom found beaten

UPDATE: Bodies found believed to be of child, father

An amber alert has been issued for a four-year-old Georgia boy after police found his mother seriously injured and her child missing on Thursday.  The mother, who has not been named, was found apparently beaten or strangled in the bedroom of her Roswell apartment. Her son, Jesus, was missing and police believe he has been taken by his father, Carlos Alberto Dominguez, and could be in danger. A former official at a Boston school district is accused of posing as a 14-year-old boy online to lure teenage girls into webcam strip shows. Steven Orloff, 48, who worked as director of student services for Stoneham Schools, is also in the center of a civil lawsuit alleging he sexually abused and secretly filmed an already traumatized girl in his bathroom while he was her foster father. He is due in federal court in Boston today to answer criminal charges of producing child pornography, after the Department of Children’s and Families stalled on the case for eight months and the alleged pedophile was released on bail. Two Alabama men have been charged with imprisoning and filming their sexual abuse of a minor for use in child pornography made with the son of one of the accused. Domestic partners Charles Dunnavant and Carl Herold face a litany of charges ranging from sexual torture and sodomy to exposing a person to an STD and child pornography production. Authorities are seeking a $1 million cash bond for each of the accused, the boy was Herold’s son according to reports. BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A teen who was caring for a 2-year-old was arrested on charges of first-degree murder. Kern County Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives arrested a 17-year-old girl for one count of first-degree murder and one count of assault on a child causing death in relation to the death of 2-year-old Kayden Webb. Webb was found not breathing and unresponsive earlier Monday in an apartment in the 1700 block of Jefferson Street in east Bakersfield. Nick Clegg’s former headmaster was facing jail yesterday after being  convicted of sexually abusing pupils over a decade at one of England’s leading prep schools. Roland Peter Wright molested five young boys at Caldicott Prep School after luring them to his room to watch television and drink whiskey in his bed. He taught French and sport at the all-boy school and targeted older pupils, aged 12 to 13, who were gifted athletes.
