Happy: Kalanit Levy, pictured with her brothers, was born with Down Syndrome after a botched prenatal test failed to spot the condition. Her parents are now suing for the costs of her extra care
A couple who sued a hospital for not telling them their unborn child has Down’s syndrome has been awarded a $2.9million payout. Ariel and Deborah Levy, who say they would have had an abortion if they had known the child would be disabled, claimed they needed the money to pay for their daughter Kalanit’s lifelong care. They would have aborted their child, but instead they are asking for money to keep her?? Why didn’t they just let someone adopt her? Wouldn’t it be better to let her go to a family that embraces a special needs child than one who wants to be compensated for her? It does not cost $2 million for the care of a Down’s syndrome child. Obviously, the values of the Torah teachings were lost to this disgusting couple.
