Child abuse has increased 134% since 1980 and is now considered a worldwide epidemic. The high jump in child abuse deaths and the shocking increase in statistics highlights the frightening lack of public knowledge.

  1. Janet Coppola Says:

No matter how many articles I read or hear of watching the news, I still become very angry at the abuse of children. Governments make policies and with these promises, but nothing really changes. Attitudes need to change right across the board. Children do not ask to be born, they are created by their parents and for many they are born into suffering and misery by the very people who should be protecting them and nurturing them. In this modern world which is so advanced, negligence to children has advanced with it. ‘How can children be protected when they are hurt by those closest to them ?’ Perhaps the ante natal services should be trained and interested enough to look closely at family units before a child is born. Perhaps educating and supporting parents who seem in difficulties may help. Prevention is most certainly better than cure. It needs to start at the very beginning, not when children are born and suffering begins. Child abuse will not go away because we want it to, we have to push it away.
