Protecting Your Home and Your Children

Home invasion has been on the rise for quite some time and you can never be too careful, especially when it comes to this country and this particular economic climate. You need to do whatever you can, not just to protect your home, but to protect your family as well.

There are a number of things you can do…

———————————————————————————-
1. Consult the Local Law – Get a feel for crime trends in your particular neck of the woods and find out what they have to say on the matter. If anyone is qualified to recommend a safe course of action when it comes to protecting yourself and your home it’s the police. They might also have some insight including what types of locks you should buy for your home as well as anything else pertaining to home security.
2. Designate a Safe Room – Whether it’s a basement or a secured bathroom, designate a safe room where the entire family can gather in the event of an emergency. Execute drills and practice runs to make sure your family, especially your children, know where to go in the event of an emergency. You can also collaborate with your neighbors and designate a safe haven in the event that everyone needs to leave the house in a hurry.
3. Look into a Home Security System – There are plenty of them on the market, but the best one I have seen so far can be found at selecthomesecurity.com.  (Call Now! 1-877-747-8165) Sometimes the mere presence of a security system can be enough to deter any uninvited guests. Security systems like the one found on this site can also help make your children feel a little more at ease and they are easy enough that you can even instruct your family on the use.
4. Take a Trip to the Hardware Store – There are some heavy duty locks on the market as well as some exterior lighting that can help protect your home. Exterior lights that operate on motion detectors can be found in many of the larger hardware store chains and can shine some light on any potential intruders. As for the locks and braces, just make sure you do your research and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact the manufacturer.
5. Don’t Be a Show Off – Not, when it comes to the things you own in your home. When it’s getting dark, draw those shades. Otherwise you are just inviting any would-be trespassers to window shop at your house. If you have any boxes like, say, the one your flat-screen television came in or that expensive new sound system, consider breaking them down and stuffing them in a trash can instead of just leaving them at the end of your drive way for everyone to see.
If you follow these steps, you will be one step closer to securing your home and the future of your loved ones. Don’t you think you owe it to your family to help give them the peace of mind they deserve?
