Teen commits suicide over sex assault

WINNIPEG — The parents of a 15-year-old Winnipeg girl say she hanged herself after she believed she was gang-raped.

Pauline Berens died on May 30 after she hanged herself in the garage of her family’s Winnipeg home. Exactly one week before, family members say, Berens and two girlfriends, aged 13 and 14, were sexually assaulted by three older teen boys after they passed out at a party. The girls awoke naked.
