Alessandra Perez told her therapist about abuse of her relatives

It took a child to report possible child abuse of her relatives. Alessandra Perez, 6, could be viewed as the heroic figure in the tragic case that has resulted in a little girl’s death and a disturbing discovery on the side of a busy intersection. Alessandra is the granddaughter of Jorge Barahona, who was found passed out Monday in his truck on the side of Interstate 95 with his 10-year-old son suffering from acid burns in the passenger seat and his daughter’s dead body in a bag in the back of the truck.

By the time you finish reading this, 15 children will have been abused; In the next five minutes, 30 more; Within the next hour, 360 more; And by tonight, close to 8,000+ children will have suffered from abuse, 5 of which will die. Child abuse has increased 134% since 1980 and is now considered a worldwide epidemic. The high jump in child abuse deaths and the shocking increase in statistics highlights the frightening lack of public knowledge.
